Stiles-Beach Barn – The Barn is the hub of the Benevolent Fund’s day to day resale activities. They process a wide variety of collectibles, tools, small appliances, and other household items for resale. Jobs range from collecting, sorting, pricing, researching the value of unusual items (generators, surge protectors, jewelry etc.), sales, and cashiering. The action is reported to be at the Goodtime Table and if you want a unique job for a resident, you can be a “runner” and deliver items to customers. Check out the Barn for having fun while you contribute to our community!
Encore – Encore sells furniture and sizable items, that are donated by residents. The furniture is picked up by the B-team delivered to Encore. Where it is touched up, priced, and make ready for sale. They say, this is a social club that sells furniture.
Books – Are you a reader, join the team in reviewing donated books? They have a broad selection of hard cover fiction and biographies.

A-Team: Give New Life To Treasures – Join the A-Team and assist residents and families by packing items that are no longer needed by them. These items are donated to the Benevolent Fund and other community organizations. We work in two-hour shifts. The number of volunteers needed is based on how many homes we are packing and the size of those homes. If you like packing garages, kitchens, clothing, dens, decorations, take your choice because we have them and pack them all. It is a wonderful group of volunteers and fun to be around! Many times, teams find family treasures that have been lost. Returning lost wedding rings, wedding pictures and family heirlooms from long ago is the reward for wrapping and boxing!
Give us a call if this is an activity you would like to participate in. We would enjoy meeting you!
B-Team: Load and Drive a Truck – Join the B-Team and help residents by picking up furniture and other merchandise for sale at Stiles-Beach Barn or Encore. Volunteers normally work 3 days per month for 3 hours per day. This is a fun group that enjoys working as a team and their efforts are greatly appreciated by residents. They have been known to have a beer after work!
You can work independently and make a difference? Check out:
Online Marketplace — “Shops at Panorama”, which began in June 2021, is the online Benevolent Fund sales operation site. Items selected from Stiles-Beach Barn and Encore Furniture inventory are displayed on the Facebook Marketplace site. Volunteers are needed to photograph the items and list them with details, including brand, condition, dimensions, and other pertinent information. If you enjoy interfacing with prospective buyers and have basic computer skills this would be the volunteer opportunity for you.
Financial Services – This is a special service that follows the Benevolent Fund Mission Statement: “First, to provide financial assistance to residents in need.” Residents that are concerned about their financial situation are referred by the Social Service Advisers and some may self-refer to the Benevolent Fund Office. Benevolent Fund Financial Assistance Chair will interview the resident, determine the financial need, if any, prepare a budget for the resident and arrange for assistance. A Financial Assistant is assigned to a resident The Financial Assistant must be a good listener, have empathy for those in stress. This can be an extremely rewarding volunteer opportunity since you are directly contributing to the quality of life of a resident.
